02 sensor/EGR replacement
Hi guys,
Ive had my check engine light come on and Ive narrowed it down to the 02 sensor or the EGR. How big of a task is it to replace these? And with the end of air-care (in Canada) coming to an end, is it worth it? The truck runs great despite the light being on...
Thanks

Re: 02 sensor/EGR replacement
Depending on how it is reading you may burn something up from being to lean or be wasting gas from being to rich o2 sensors are not very to hard to replace not sure on the egr but it shouldnt be to hard either

I havn't checked it out with a code reader yet but ive narrowed it down through research and a little bit of looking through FRF

And i put the truck info in my signature but its not being displayed (newbie problems). Any help with that?

Re: 02 sensor/EGR replacement
You really should get the code read. That should tell you if it's the EGR or the o2 sensor.
Both of those are fairly easy to replace. The upstream o2 sensor on the driver's side is a bit of a bitch just because of where it is, but it's still not too bad, especially if you have an o2 sensor socket.
The EGR valve is also pretty easy. Two small bolts, one big nut, and a vacuum hose. It's about a 10 minute job. The EGR solenoid is easy too. Two bolts and two vacuum hoses.
Still, I'd suggest finding out what the code says first, since that should tell you if it's EGR related in any event.

If you have a DROID buy a elm 327 and download Torque. Otherwise look online. There are readers for $20?
