screwed something up playing in mud
so i went offroading today in the mud. i have a 98 3.0 4x4 ranger manual. everything was going well then i was follow some guys through the "mud pit" made it fine then decided to do it again. it was deep enough to submerge my 32' tires. the second time i was going in it my truck got stuck and shut off in the middle of the pit. i got it started up but would only idle below 1,000 rpm and kept stalling out. so i would have to get the rpm up to 4k and float the clutch a lot to even get it moving. after a good 10 minute struggle to get out the idle went back to normal but when i was driving home my engine would almost shut off for a split second but keep running and continued to randomly have the power drop off for a split second. now my check engine light came on. where would the mud have gotten to cause these problems. and what could i do to prevent something like this from happening again besides not going in the mud. the mud is addicting.

Water got into your intake. Make sure your filter and water box are dry

Re: screwed something up playing in mud
mud = bad.
water = bad.
stay out of both. when you hydro-lock your motor and throw a rod you will be wishing you had a dedacated off road toy.
Most likely you got water in your intake. Just dry out your filter and maybe run a bottle of heat in your tank

Remove your filter and air box and intake tube and let them dry. Use towels to dry it faster
