Default How do you access the Blend Door? Are there 2?

How do you access the Blend Door? Are there 2?

I think ours is broken, but am having a time figuring out how to lay my hands on it.

Thanks for any help in advance,

Dave

I have determined that most mechanical / electrical challanges are directly connected to the nut that connects the steering wheel to the drivers seat.

I just googled it! never new that. If it is broken I found this site

http://www.blenddoorfix.netfirms.com/

I guess its a common problem. I have no Idea what the problem is exactly but maybe this will help.

Sorry guys, I had no idea noone knew what I was talking about. Drew nailed it with his search, but what I need info on is how to gain access the broken door inside the chamber below what the white actuator in his link shows.

When I removed my actuator part of the shaft that controls the door came out also. That mean this trick, no matter how helpful, will not work unless I can replace the door part it connects too.. I think?

"I have no Idea what the problem is exactly but maybe this will help" Problem is, all my air comes out the top front window vent and searching google pointed me to the broken blend door possibility.

Second challange is, in some places I read that there may be 2 of them, depending on year, but I can not see any of them in my book to help gain access.

Any help would be great

Thanks in advance

Dave

Drew, you are the greatest. AND your google must be better than mine!
Thank you.

I was already thinking about cutting open the area behind the glovebox, but there has to be another way to get to it.

Just seems strage that there is a moving part, known to break, that Ford continued to make and install for many, many years with no tech sheets on how to access it.

Anyone know another way to get to this part and, is there another one somewhere I may have to deal with?

Hey this whole fix is news to me but I have found multiple ways people fixed this problem but in every case they are removing the whole dash or cutting like the previous link. Most people say that if you go the money let someone else tackle this one. Sucks tho it seems like such a minor fix. I will keep my eye out for ya.

I wonder what kind of bad outcome I would have if we just force the door open, maybe drill a long screw in forcing the door open, and leave it that way?

I would do a little more research before I go drilling blind.

Oh come on, half the fun of learning is figuring out how to fix or cover up your mistakes!
