Air box mod help. (Pics)
Ok I want to do the Air box mod. After looking at the way mine is set up it does not look exactly like your "how to" forum. The grommets described to not look like mine. It does not even look like I have those. so i dont see the need to spray wd40 in there. Also my coolant hose is pretty close i dont want to go ripping that out. Its an 05 3.0. anybody that has done this to this or any advice would be great. and i know its not a significant gain in any performance but I'm bored and dont see how it can harm anything.
Maybe these pics will help sorry about the quality they are from my phone.

but it is one solid piece like cone. No rubber at all... Also in the how to it shoes that second part coming off. After you take out the tube do you just put the box back in or do you put the other part back in as well?

Did this give you any improvements? Just doesn't seem like it would do much to me.

really it just makes it sound better when u get in it hard other than that i haven't noticed a difference and it's still cheaper than buying a 400$ intake kit...

Should not give any improvements at all. You are actually taking out the cold air intake tube right?

Nothing really. I changed my fuel filter the same day so my truck is running smooth because of that so i couldnt really tell. I want to say it makes the truck sound a little different but cant be sure. If anything a little more air flow never hurt anything

It is simply taking out the tube that goes from the back of the head light area into the air box. (see pics) All it really does is make the hole on the box bigger. A little less resistance on the air entering the box.

Pulled mine out today its an 04, the box has inserts on the bottom (part of the box) that go into the rubber grommets, I pulled the back one out first then was able to get the front one to come out. The ones on the fender wall then need to come out. Just pull towards the centerline of the truck and they will come out too. The coolant line you see is the return from the radiator cap to the reservoir.

That little tube is the cold air intake so you are now allowing hot air into the system making the air charge less efficient. at idle its a tad less resistance if any at highway speeds you have decreased the air flow. nice mod LOL
