Default Re: Head Gasket issues?

OK, I've been a way for a while but I wanted to update everyone here. I finally got my truck into the shop. I'm using a very close friend, an ace mechanic, probably the best I know. he contacted me yesterday & told me the heads had been pulled, sent out for inspection & returned. No cracks, but both were severely warped. The head gaskets were pretty much shot as well. So I had the heads machined, replacing the water pump as well. My mechanic told me that the "gurgling" sound of the coolant going back into the over flow was anything but normal. He said that is air in the sytem (alot of air) pushing the coolant back into the over flow tank. he told me he was simply shocked that the heads were not cracked. I should get the truck back next week; I will advise how things are going.

Picked up my truck yesterday; running as good as new at the moment. My mechanic told me I had a small leak in a hose right below the temp. sending unit, I also had a leak in my radiator. He seems to think the leak below the temp. unit was allowing air to enter the system I believe the radiator leak had just happened as the truck got hot on me a couple of days before I took it to the shop. There was alot of compression in the sytem evidently. I had been keeping a very close eye on the radiator & did not notice any leaks. in all I replaced the water pump, new thermostat, conditioned the heads, new gaskets, new radiator.
