Weird Engine Knocking - Page 2

this thread is a little confusing?

-have you checked the oil level?

-you need to read the codes and post the actual code #

-Did you get gas at the station and then the knocking happened? maybe you got real crappy gas?

-I have never heard of a modern day car without either an oil idiot light and/or an oil gauge....I think you have a gauge

-did you lift the hood? could something have gotten in the fan or belts and that was the knocking?

I checked the oil from the dip stick. 2X. Both showed that the oil was low. The other day i was hooking a trailer to the back of it, the car was slightly angeled with the drive way incline. I noticed that there was a LITTLE oil a the drive way.

Is it possible that the oil filter is not on all of the way ? Where else could the oil go. I havent noticed any burining smell or anything like that .

GET THE READINGS FROM THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT!
you NEED to get that read.

You can also buy a bottle of oil to help keep the oil level where it is supposed to between oil changes.

Bring it to a Mechanic......I have read hundreds of thousands of these posts.......the OP is out of his league.......I encourage him to read up and do research, but as of now for the benefit of himself and his truck he should take it to a mechanic.........

Ok....so mechanic came out, turns it it was the pcv valve, on the drivers side rear engine. There is a piece of rubber hose that has a 90' bend . This piece of tubing was collapased in on itself, and it looked like there was carbon build up in it.

NOW....when i take the truck down the highway, take my exit and hit the first stop light it feels like the engine is vibrabting....smells like rotten eggs.

Thoughts ?

Or it could be a misfire. When my coil pack went out, my cats smelled like shit. Replaced the coil, and the smell went away c

Replaced the coil pack about 9 months ago. Not losing power. When the engine vibrates i can feel it in the pedals. When i put it under load it goes away.

Are cats expensive? is that something that goes out often ?
