Opinions on my 3.0 Sport
So, my 2008 has just a bit over 30k mils on the odometer. I have had the truck since June. It get gets great gas mileage as in with combined mileage I normally get around 290 miles a tank. I have yet to get a tank with just pure highway miles. Ever since I have owned the truck I thought the engine was just real noisy. The more I listened though it sounded like it was coming from the back of the engine and its more audiable from the passenger side than the driver.
I thought it may be an exhaust leak after thinking about it for awhile. So, I took to a reputable shop and after finding no leaks they did point out that the converter on the passenger side had a good amount of heat glazing on it, much much more than the driver side. I saw no glazing on the driver side at all. While we were under there I was listening to it and the noise sounds like it is coming from the converter or the transmission on the passenger side. I mean, the noise kinda sounds like a tractor or something its hard to describe. It is very audiable when you are driving the truck.
I have an appointment at the dealership on Friday to get them to look at it because the truck still has the powertrain warranty. I do not trust dealerships and if it is a converter, I know they have warranties but I do not know how long they last.
Thoughts or opinions?
Edit: After looking around I found that the converters have 8 year or 80k mile warranties. I really don't want to take it it there but I don't have a choice since it still has the warranty.
