Default 3.0 question

Did Ford ever put aluminum heads on the vulcan? If not, does anybody make any?

Ford should have put the duratec 3.0 that's in my Mazda6 into the Ranger. 220 hp compared to 148. Aluminum heads with DOHC too.

well i was hoping to swap to aluminum heads because they are lighter and cool down faster than cast iron, and I was thinking about swapping over to roller rockers too.

The vulcan was out and in rangers for a while before the engine you have on your mazda6. It costs too much to release a new engine.

You should have gotten the Mazda 6 with the 2.3 instead.

I completely disagree, we have turbo and s/c options just like the 2.3 guys have. My buddy even has a twin turbo on his 3.0 Mazda6.

I doubt it but if so, it still front wheel drive: And he doesn't have direct injection.

They're both front wheel drive, who cares if one has direct injection, the v6 puts out WAY more power. And if you need proof, PM me.

From the MazdaUSA website.

Notable changes include:

* 2.3-Liter DISI Turbo Inline-4
* 6-Speed Manual Transmission
* Active Torque Split All-Wheel Drive
* Exterior enhancements including 18-inch alloy wheels
* Interior amenities included BOSE® audio sound system

Stand out in a crowd. Then leave them in the dust. The MAZDASPEED team built a car ready for action. They took the core architecture of the all-aluminum MAZDA6 i powerplant, and retooled it from end-to-end for more speed and even more power. The result is the 2007 MAZDASPEED6, a 270-horsepower flagship engine made with brawn and ready for pure performance.

The 2007 MAZDASPEED6 delivers high performance at the highest level, boasting speed and muscle with a 270 horsepower engine, and 15.6 lbs. of boost. Delivering a driving rush that could only come from MAZDA. With clean, pumped-up performance, superior handling, and brilliant design inside and out, the MAZDASPEED6 is an AWD sport sedan that combines the out-and-out fun of a sports car with the indulgent feel of a luxury car—in one dynamic package.

Obviously you don't understand direct injection or its benifits. PM'ing you would be a waste of time.

We weren't talking about Mazdaspeed. A Mazdaspeed6 wasn't in my budget, plus they have turbo seal issues, rear diff issues, and maintenance costs are WAY higher.

I was talking about the Mazdaspeed. Sorry you couldn't afford the better car.

I'm perfectly happy with the car I have. You didn't mention the Speed in your first post, just said I should have got the 2.3. I'm not trying to argue with you, it's pointless. Just saying the 3.0 is more powerful than the 2.3 stock n/a. Don't get me wrong, I love the MS6, its just not for me.
