Default Is soemthing missing here?

How to test this device? Also, there is a stem on the left with a hole on top.. is it missing a hose or is the hole ment to be open to the engine compartment?

I have determined that most mechanical / electrical challanges are directly connected to the nut that connects the steering wheel to the drivers seat.

Thats your heater control valve. The vacumn line is hooked up. You should be able to test it by turning the temperature control from hot to cold to hot on your heater.

So that's what that is!! My new-to-me '06 engine didn't have one on it's heater hoses, yet my '01 had it. Good thing I did retrofit it. lol.
