Default Oil Pressure Gauge Mod Question

Hey guys,

So I have in infamous oil pressure gauge flicker on my 2002. I've replaced the switch for it and it still has the issue.

So, I was looking around and I know that the old Ranger clusters had the ability to be modified to be a normal oil pressure gauge instead of the dummy ones that we have.

The process as I understand it is to replace the Oil Pressure gauge portion of the cluster with one from 1995. Bridge the resistor on the back of the cluster and add an real oil pressure sensor (not switch).

The problem I have is that the posts that I found say to use a PS60 type oil pressure sensor (Ford part # is: SW-1547-B or E4ZZ-9278-A.) Every picture I see of the sensors mentioned has two ends that are threaded. One part obviously screws into the block. But on the current switch, it has an electronic plug, not a screw.

Does this mean that this modification will not be possible on my 2002?

Thanks in advance!

For reference I here are three websites that I've seen that discuss the modification:
