Question stumbling idle/miss and why you NEVER take your truck to the stealership... HELP!!!

this is a little long winded but PLEASE bear with me i really need your guys' help...

About a month ago my b3000 with manual trans quit running on three cylinders. I put a new coil new plugs and wires on it and nothing changed. Took it to a local shop that we have taken our vehicles to for YEARS and they couldnt figure out the problem after about a week and a half. They recommended we take it to the dealership. Well we did and another week later it turns out that the valve seats were cracked and falling down into the cylinders. Got it back and it still ran rough but after a couple days it was a lot better. They reset the computer at the dealership (actually reset it not just unhooked the battery) so i figureed this was the issue. A couple days ago i noticed a few oil spots under where i usually park; crawled underneath at it looked like it was leaking from the back of the oil pan. Pulled the pan and saw oil coming down from the top end and it turns out THEY DIDNT TIGHTEN THE BOTTOM BOLTS ON THE F*****G VALVE COVERS!!! issedoff: They were 7-8 COMPLETE turns from being tight, and the oil filter was also 2-3 full turns from being tight! barely tight enough to make the seals touch. :annoyed:

On top of this it has been running rough again for about a week. At idle it will run fine and then it will start missing and stumbling and sometimes completely die, other times it kicks the rpms back up and then runs fine. And it doesnt do it all the time. Proabably 1 out of every 3 times i come to a complete stop (after i have been moving). It will also occasionaly miss once or twice while I am just going down the highway, especially if i am going up hills or if it just died like i said above. The check engine light is not on and it is not throwing any codes. What could it be????? Sensor, vaccum leak, more valve trouble? im out of ideas PLEASE HELP

Sorry for your bad experience, but what exactly are your miles and what year is your truck? I'm surprised that the first shop couldn't find a problem, but I'm sure that other members can help you out.

Yeah we need more info on your truck.
Could be a vacuum leak, I had a similar problem, but it was running lean and missing and running like crap. I cleaned the MAF, PCV, put in new spark plugs, and found a vac line that was unplugged from the main intake. Runs like a champ now.

Yeah never go to a dealership.
I have a remanufactured motor, but I spent $800 for new fuel injectors and a tune up on my last motor, it was running like crap, so after spending that much money, then the dealership told me the cylinder and piston were shot and that was the cause of the problems.

It is a 2001 mazda b3000 (3.0) and a manual transmission. It Also has flowmaster duals,31's,and a K&N intake. I cleaned the MAF yesterday and I put new plugs wires and coil on it about two months ago. I just replaced the fuel filter a couple hours ago (thinking MAYBE something in the gas). While I was at O'rielys I had them hook a scanner up to it and it threw a cylinder 4 misfire code. Checked the plug and wire and both were fine.

And yeah everyone was stumped when it was having valve problems because it still had decent compression it had spark the timing was fine... literally all of the engine's "vitals" checked out fine. The dealer finally had to order some kind of a scope tool to figure out it was the valve seats

Also idk if anyone is still viewing this but the CEL came on today and it gave P0175 and P0172 codes; running rich on both cylinder banks. This has to be a sensor right?l i read in another thread in this forum (the guys truck ran the same codes) that it could be the engine coolant thermostat, PCM ground wiring, Fuel pressure regulator, Fuel Rail/Pressure Damper, & MAF sensor. any ideas on which one I should replace first first?
