engine swap 2.3 to 3.0
Does the 3.0 fit up to a stock 5 spd manual from a 2.3 how much would you have to change to get it to work

2.3, 3.0 and 4.0 all have different bolt patterns at the bellhousing and the bellhousing is integral with the manual transmission case. So, if you swap engines, you also need to swap to the matching transmission. To do the swap, the major parts needed would be engine, transmission, engine wiring harness, PCM and some of the exhaust system.

if you're gonna do a motor swap you won't see much gains from just going to a 3.0, go with at least a 4.0, and if you're doing that much work might as well put a v8 in it, thats just my way of thinking

It is the same model (M5ODR1) and all of the guts are the same between the 2.3 and 3.0 version. Only the front of the case/bellhousing is different to match the engine bolt pattern. The manual behind the 4.0 OHV is also the same model but its bolt pattern is different from the other two and the ratios are different for the first three gears.
