Default 02 XLT A/C Compressor Question..

So im from TX where your constantly running your ac 10 of the 12 months so mine has got some good use to it.. I notice when im driving with the AC on that there is a little chirp that is coming from the engine area. I have just diagnosed the issue with one quick step and need to know where to go from here...

I unplugged the electrical clip that connects to the front of the compressor, drove around a little bit on it... no chirp. Just to make sure it wasn't a coincidence i plugged the clip back in... now it chirps.

I do not know nearly anything when it comes to A/C components so this is where this lovely site comes in hand. I was wondering if there is any ac gurus out there that might be able to give me a little trouble shooting guide on what I can do to make this chirp go away, and if this means I need to make some repairs.

I really appreciate all the help in advance and hopefully can use some ideas to fix this issue that I am having. THANKS!

Im not really familiar with A/C components either but I had sort of a hammering sound when I ran the A/C that went away. My mechanic said it sounds like the tensioner was going. It's basically a wheel at the bottom of the belt which adjust when the A/C is on to compensate for the extra torque your compressor puts on the engine. Maybe your belt is squeaking there? Like I said I'm nowhere near an expert. Just a thought.

Your ac clutch may be going out.
