the only thing that an electric fan and underdrive pullies only free up static horsepower they dont add power.
next the jet performance chip ive never heard anything good from them toyota guys think they are the worst thing around i dont know much about them only speaking from what i have heard and that isnt much but i just know they dont yield much power if any mabey more power after you drop that much money into one.
now the only thing i can think that could have gotten you 2mpg better with your home made was if you cleaned the maf while installing the homemade CAI

i would say the jet chip was my biggest wasting of money, didn't clean the MAF, i bought all this junk years ago for my 4x4, after it died it was all sitting in the garage so i decided to try it on the 2wd i got and look more critically at how it affected or didn't affect the truck, i've decided its pointless to try and get more power from a 3.0, might as well just drive it and try to enjoy it for what it is

exactly the only things i think you can do is to keep it running for as long as possible take good care of it and it will take care of you

which cherry bombs they make more than just glass packs now and what other mufflers are you looking at?

throttle body spacer: made my truck whistle at certain rpms
jet performance chip thingy: no real power gain from what i could tell, seemed like the truck held gears longer before shifting (that was a while ago so i could def. be wrong)
home made CAI: its an adaper bolted to my MAF so i can clamp on a K&N cone filter, more power? not really, made the truck a little louder compared to a stock filter with no air silencer, on my 2wd it does consistently get 2mpg better than it did before (i was surprised too)
underdrive pulleys: i guess they helped a little but can't say for sure since i put them on at the same time as an electric fan
electric fan: helped tremendously on my old truck by virtue of the fact that the clutch fan was seized and therefore ran constantly, put it on the 2wd at the same time as the pulleys simply because i had them sitting around and said why not? helps a little in low rpm, but its no 500hp gain

hope this helps a little, like i said, its simply what i have observed with my two 3.0s
yah i was thinking of the electric fan. i know your not adding powere with one just freeing the power used to turn the fan. shouldnt be too hard to do. where did you get the fan at?

i have a cherrybomb muffler on mine. not a glasspack. it sounds good. but the flowmaster super 40 or 44 sounds WAY better.

JP7 what do you reccomend I do. i know getting more power from my 3.0 is way more involved than i first anticipated. i just want a little more pep in my step. im looking a 66 stang 302 5 speed. thats what you go fast in.

If you want 3.0 performance I suggest 2JZGTE

If you want more performance out of your vulcan I suggest a safe tune without knock.

If you want more than you can tune with the stock engine I suggest some headwork. Valves, porting, a cam...

After the right headwork, bolt ons might free up some power.

if your just looking for more pep as in getting up on starts i would suggest regearing to a higher gear. but thats me the only down side to regearing is that it will limit your top speed but why do you need to go faster than lets says 80 or 85? and for muffler i like the sound of the JBA myslef

it also gonna hurt your highway mileage (depending on how much gear change and what size tires) since you will be turning more rpm to maintain the same speed

my fan: http://www.summitracing.com/parts/FLX-180/
and the controller i'll put in: http://www.spalusa.com/store/main.as...tem=FAN-PWM-V3

its not a cheap setup, had i done more research at the time i probably would have looked to rob a fan from a taurus or a sable, heard nothing but good things about swapping them into rangers

like i said it depends on what gears and what tires, i don't know whats in his truck, but it sounds a lot like my 99 2wd 3.0, its got 3.73s and gets 20-21 at best on the highway, my other 3.0 also had 3.73s, but had 31s, sucked around town but got 25-27 on the highway

all i'm saying is to take everything into consideration before changing gears, 4.10s would have been way better in my old truck, it was a total dog and horrible around town, but on my new truck 4.10s would be too much, it would kill my highway mileage, it all depends on one's truck and the kind of driving they will do with it
