i shelled out the $$ for one. no noticeable increase in anyting other than noise. i would not buy another one. only real plus is the filter is easyer to change.

The stock intake is already a cold air intake. Buying a new and more expensive one will serve only to thin your wallet.

i believe there are gains to be had by getting an after market intake. true, the companies exaggerate their gains and make them all seem like any thing you put on your truck will make it a race car, but there has to be some gain for them to exaggerate in the first place right?

Or you could just ask someone like me who works on a dyno and gets paid to do it...

I can put a carboard box on the end of a truck intake, and run it on a dyno and claim "wow 20 horsepower gain and 15 ft-lb torque!"
Everybody would be saying "did you do the carboard box mod yet?!?!?!?!?
Truth is you can push the timing map and dump less fuel with ANY parts added on and make them look like they gain power. Too bad the engine starts to knock and burn up because you don't have the proper work done to run a tune like that.

As you can tell by the previous posts, no one here thinks an after market CAI is worth having. Mainly because none of them are willing to do the rest of the mods to make everything work in harmony.
Best suggestion, take the stock air box out and don't just remove the silencer, cut the whole end out of the box, re-install the box, install a new gauze type filter (dry would be best, as some are too lazy to clean the MAF a few days after cleaning and re-oiling the oiled filters) and replace the lid with everything else attached like it came stock.
You haven't ruined anything and it will work as good as the after market for a lot less money, plus you won't have to buy anymore of those $12 paper filter pieces of junk.
