Default timing cover/water pump

cant find much on this one using the search bar. so i have coolant leaking from my timing cover a very common issue on the 3.0's. my question is when i dig in there to do it do i have to do anything with my oil pan? taking the engine out isnt going to happen. so im wondering can i take off the old pump, unbolt the timing cover and install a new gasket and put it back on and call it a day?

Sure, but depending of how many miles, you may want to install a new water pump, and put in a new front crank seal.
