Does anyone know of a threaded funnel to fit the Vulcan V6 oil fill hole(I have a 2003 and a 1996)?

I have one for my Honda and (since I usually manage to dribble some oil on the engine) it really makes for a clean job, especially if you are using a 5 qt jug.

I recommend using Motorcraft filters. They're like $4 at walmart. Theyre very good filters

I bought part of my oil change supplies today for my first change with this Ranger I bought a few months ago. The truck has been taken care of pretty well, and I want to keep that going. The 2000 truck has 110k miles on the odometer. I bought a quart of Lucas oil treatment to start off with. But im on the fence on the brand of oil im going to use. The last oil change doesn't specify as to which brand of oil that was used. Im kind of torn between Castro, Valvoline, an of course Motorcraft. I used to have 89 GT that I put every kind of oil in it trying to stop usage, but Valvoline 20w50 was they only oil I could get to halfway stay. That motor was put together kind of loose at the factory, an it was good, it was just that if you hot-rodded or raced a lot between changes, you had to add a quart every 800 miles. So I kind of partial to Valvoline in that respect.

Pennsoil platinum + fram gold synthetic filter. Best combo I've found for the 3.0

Well this thread answers my second question about my new (to me) Ranger. (See sigline). (The first question was about how to turn on the fog/driving lamps.)

I noticed that the auction house (or whatever) that processed my truck before the local dealer got it put in "full synthetic" oil, but viscosity was not specified. I saw in the manual a reference to 5W20.

So, synthetic oil? Is that Ford's recommendation these days? My car 'need's full synthetic and MB makes it easy, they publish a list of approved oils in specific viscosities. In general, any oil that says "MB 229.3" on it is good.

So, what does Ford say - other than they (I guess) recommend 5W20? And with synthetic oil, my car specified a changed interval of 7,000 miles (but then, it carries two GALLONS of oil in the sump of a 3.2L V6). I always change it at around 5500 miles 'cause I'm like that.

Unless someone here can convince me otherwise, my change interval will be 3,000 miles in the truck. But my question is: What weights are recommended by Ford? Do they allow anything other than 5W20? I live in the hot, hot south and can see 5W20 in the winter, but I kinda lean toward something heavier in the summer down here. (I run the heaviest oil in the car that MB allows: 5W50 with 5W40 being their default recommendation).

I wont put ANYTHING in either engine that is not approved of by the manufacturer. I've searched and can't find anything about WSS-M2C930-A that mentions anything other than 5W20 but on the other hand, it does not specifically say that synthetic oil is a requirement.

So, where am I here?

5W20 only or not?
Synthetic required or not?

Don't get me wrong - synthetic oil is a bit pricy at times, but way cheaper than an engine. If that's what it takes - that is what it will get.

Read your dipstick and/or owners manual. The dealership uses Motorcraft 5w20 synthetic blend.
