Default 2000 ford ranger engine replacement?

Well my engine just went out in my 2000 ford ranger it was a 3.0 i was wondering if any other engine sizes would fit when i replace it and what does a new engine not come with? does it come with everything you need
Body, transmission is way too nice and suped up i really dont want to junk it id rather pay 2000 for a new engine then to go get another used vehicle and not know what your gonna get

I know that slightly older Rangers came with 4.0L V6's. They run strong and are very reliable. I don't think your going to get many of the accessories to swap over though. Go to where you want to buy your engine from and ask them what they're not going to supply with a long block.
All this said, you may be biting of more than you can chew. I doubt the wiring harness will match a different motor as well as the exhaust, etc.
Good luck

3.0 L is the only one for you. Re-manufactured is the best,it will only be the engine block with heads.
All the parts on it will be re-used.
Ford crate engine will be costly but worth the bucks.

I had mine replaced, get a jasper engine. will cost a little more, but they are very reliable and have a good warranty on them.
