I went to change my PCV valve on my 02 Ranger 3.0L and the plastic or rubber fitting that the valve fits in was cracked, missing a piece, and the hose from the intake to the valve is kinked, zip-tied and torn. The rubber valve cover grommet is fine. I went to a salvage yard over the weekend and could not find any 3.0L 2001-2003 Rangers. The Taurus 3.0L and Ranger 4.0L has a different PCV valve configuration.
When I tried to disconnect the PCV hose from the intake, I found it's connected to a long plastic tube inside the intake and because of that being longer then the distance to the firewall, I couldn't remove it.
The truck is running fine but I'd really like to replace the worn and cracked pieces, plus the PCV had to be crammed in to the hose fitting because part of it is missing.
Any suggestions for correcting someone's jury-rigging?
