Default Need help diagnosing squeaky noise at idle.

Hey my 2001 ford ranger edge 3.0 with 151k manual trans is making a squeaky noise near the belt. Ive been reading up on the cam synch but im not sure where it is so I don't know if it could be a culprit, but I took 2 videos of the noise and uploaded them to youtube.

I've had the truck for 4 days, it runs fine but that noise just started today and it is annoying. Louder from the outside. Also of note today is the warmest its been since ive gotten in.

The 2nd video is of me starting/turning off the truck. first is it running.

Belt tensioner or camshaft sync.

Cam sync is toward the back of the engine. Could be your belt, belt tensioner or ilder pulley as well. If it sounds like it is toward the front, try changing out the belt pulleys and belt first. However, sometime down the road, Probably sooner rather than later you will need to change that cam sync out.

Turned out that over the course of 150k miles, the previous belt(s) on there had just left a nice rubber coating on the idler pulley, which caused slipping and that annoying noise. I just put some cuts into it with a pointy piece of scrap I had lying around and the noise is all gone.

Change the cam sync. Now!!!! I just blew my engine because if this. You will lose the oil pump and no oil presure no engine
