Default Big Problem Little Truck please help!!!!

I just got this truck used from a lot and thought i wouldnt have to do anything major for a couple years or so... now the oil pressure sensor is reading 0 or somthing close to it, just had the oil changed yesturday. it was doing it before but if i shut it off and started it again it would go back to normal. but now its no help. If anyone has any idea it would be greatly appreciated.

Sincerely

Its probably your oil pressure sensor. Mine had an issue where the oil pressure gauge wouldn't show any pressure for a few minutes after starting it and then would go up to normal. I replaced the oil pressure sensor and it has worked fine since. I think it was only $10-15 and I put it on myself. Its kinda hard to get to, its on the backside of the engine on the passenger side.

It could be a bad sensor, or the gauge, if it didn't have any oil pressure it wouldn't be long till you knew that.

Not to be a jerk but the truck is over ten years old. You will have to do maintenance on it, and by that I mean more than just tires and oil. They are good trucks if you keep up with them.

as stated already you are being naive if you think you can drive a 12 year old truck without the possibility of a major issues..........it's a crap shoot.......that being said did the truck come with a warranty?.....you need to get the codes read.......your truck does have an issue with the cam syncro........you need to look into that. Is there a squeak coming from the enigne?

as far as I know we no one called you a complete ******* we just were trying to let you know that there are no guarantees with a 12 year old truck. the tranny or engine could blow at any time.that is the deal..Maintenance will help those odds.......

Does the engine squeak? never mind i see you answered that
the Cam syncro is part of the engine on the passenger side close to the firewall. it is recommended the sycro be replaced every 80k. the syncro drives the cam sensor and the oil pump. When it goes the truck keepsrunning but the oil pump stops....you have a matter of seconds to turn the truck off to save it. a squeak from it aka-the death wobble indicates it should be replaced.

You should get the codes read and post the actual #'s here

search for the cam syncro deal, there's a thread or two on it, how to figure out if yours is bad, and how to replace it.

good job creating a siganture, could you add tranny? cab? abs? mileage? ac?.........these will help

working on these trucks is pretty simple........a few good things to have is a multimeter $5 and a code reader $30.......and FRF!

I have those and its not putting out a code or an check engine light. Just the guage is on low and I was hoping to hear it be a simple fix and not oil leaking through the piston rings and it about to blow. Ill add more to my signature thanks for the hlep, i didnt mean to seem like a p-rick.

Nothing wrong with your trucks age, mine is only one year newer than yours.
If your guage is reading low, check the oil in it. If youre on the low side then look at the engine, up underneath it too, to see if you can find any oil leaking.

That camshaft sync replacement is pretty simple. I can switch mine out in an hour tops after I did it once.
