I have kept it on Gas saver mode for like 2 months, no power what so ever, and with my 33" tires, yeah didn't really get better gas mileage.
Put it on Performance mode, seemed to actually get better gas mileage on that.
Just wondering about these issues.
Also theres Quick Tune and Advanced Tune. What settings would be optimal in the advance sections?
I'm just too scared to go in and mess with all those advance features like shift points and etcs..
The owners instructional manual is pretty useless lol

Hey man I also see u are running 33x12.50 tires too, so that's helpful.
Also, with ur big tires and no mudflaps or fender flares, isn't the side of ur truck getting paint chipped all up?
I have flares and my paint is already getting small chips. I need to get flare extenders or new bushwhacker fender flares.

I get my best gains on perf. Tune
burning gas, tires, and oil, 'cause that's what I do!

Re: 3.0s with Superchips Flashpaq Users
Ok guys...got my SCT X3 tuner and a custom tune made from Don @ LaSota Racing.
Ive got the tune installed in the truck...ive only driven about 20 miles with it...notice a difference in the shifting....and some more power on acceleration..
Don said to expect 6-10hp from it...
I will keep u posted on the mpg differences.

What gears do you have in the rear? And so right out of the gate does it seem better than the flashpaq?

Re: 3.0s with Superchips Flashpaq Users
I have 4.10 gears.
So far it seems to rev higher when on the gas harder during shifting....seems more peppy then the flashpaq shifts points...
Will be putting some miles on to visit family for easter and will do a mpg calculation...

Re: 3.0s with Superchips Flashpaq Users
Well after about 120miles (60 there and back) on the interstate going roughly 72-75mph...i averaged about 13.3mpg...which beats my old flashpaq average of about 12mpgs.... now these numbers are going off my odometer which is actually off a tad because of the large 33" tires..so i actually did more miles and got better mpgs then that...my speed is correct i did that via gps...
So for the SCT X3 and my custom tune, im getting a tad better mpgs than i did with the flashpaq....but we will see how it rates when i do the trip next time at 60mph on the interstate

Re: 3.0s with Superchips Flashpaq Users
I just bought a Superchips SRC-1845 programmer (the new updated one that is on Summit Racing now) for my truck and I went to try to install a tune and the programmer is telling me that the tune failed to install and it never finished recovery mode. Does anyone know why this is happening? My truck is a 2000 Ford Ranger XLT 4x4 with the 3.0L V6 and a 5r55e auto transmission. I just put in a brand new engine and transmission in 2015 and I have a cold air intake and a 2.5" flowmaster 50 series exhaustalready installed on the truck. I'm going to be very pissed if this 370.00 programmer destroys my computer in my truck.

Re: 3.0s with Superchips Flashpaq Users
I recently picked up a Superchips 1845. I was looking for ANY power improvement for my 3.slow 2006 xlt supercab 2 wd auto. I have upgraded the plugs, coil, wires, air box mod, K&N, Mobile 1. As the truck only had 26,000 original miles, (35,000 now) I'm not going to get into internal mods. In the performance tune I noticed an improvement in power, but nothing to write home about. On a recent 2500 mile trip to WY hill country, I got 19-21 mpg, but even the slightest bump in the road caused truck to downshift. Had a semi pass me on a sizable grade. Power is almost dead over 2600 rpm, and engine just makes noise over 3600 rpm. Decided to switch to the tow haul mode. Filled up with 91 octane fuel for 2 tanks, then switched. Things got better (some what) and mpg stayed about the same (<1 mpg loss) Most of my driving is around town, so I'll put the mileage tune in it for now.
One problem I have with my Superchips 1845 is that it won't show any data in display/record mode. Want to use it for diagnosing and monitoring engine. (fuel trims, etc) Talked to Superchip Tech and they worked on the problem. They just sent me an update last night that they say should fix the issue but I have not installed it yet to see if it works. The tech people got back to me in a week. I recommend calling them with any issues. They are great people to work with. I figured they would just blow me off with my issue, but called me back to let me know about the update/fix.
As a retired Ford employee, I am really surprised that the powers that be at Ford let this truck/engine combo even make production. My truck is to the point of being dangerous. Guess i'll have to live with it, but what a let down coming from a F-250 powerstroke.
Any suggestions on an exhaust system? Thinking of a cat back system, but don't want to make truck much louder than stock. Was thinking of headers, but on a stock motor, kind of a waste of money really.

Re: 3.0s with Superchips Flashpaq Users
What rears gears do you have? My almost pure stock Ranger has 3.73 with stock height tires. I've thought of going to 4.10 for pep although it'd kill any highway mileage.
I'm looking at a Gibson exhaust as it seems to quietest incab.
