Grinding noise
Just the other day I was pulling into a parking lot and all of the sudden the engine got really loud, almost like a slight grinding noise coming from the block. Anyways, I pulled into the first available parking spot and popped the hood open to check my oil. Nothing, not a drop on the stick. I got somebody I know to bring me some and I put it in. Once I started the truck back up ( the engine was cold by then) the engine still made that slight grinding noise for a few seconds and then It sounded better then ever. Well today, I came home, ate dinner in about 15 minutes and went out to the truck to head over to a friends house. The engine was still warm at this point so I hopped in and started the engine, but that same grinding noise came back and it was loud. I checked the oil, and the stick was about halfway between empty and full. I decided to go ahead and add more oil and once I did that the noise went away. I'm really confused, does anybody know what may be causing the grinding noise?
