Default Ranger wont start

Ok guys this sucks. I have a 2001 3.0 ranger that wont start. It turns over fine but will not fully start. I have replaced the crankshaft position sensor and fuel filter. Electrics are working fine so im stuck. Any ideas? Just ask if you need more info.

When you turn the key to on, do you hear the fuel pump running?

Negative. Although I am not sure I ever have. Tried swapping fuel pump relay with another and it didn't help anything.

Listen closely when you put the key to ON but not start. Make sure.

Standing outside the truck you should hear the exact same thing you hear on the Toyota.

- Fuses
- Relay (you already tried that)
- Inertia switch behind the kick panel on the right side of the dash (push reset button)

Get another person, take the gas cap off and have 1 person turn the key on while the other person puts their ear up to the filler tube and see if you can hear the pump.

I think I am having a similar problem... Turns over fine but won't hit a lick. Like you I switched the fuel pump relay with another and no luck. I also checked the inertial switch in the passenger side floor board. I'm pretty sure I can hear my fuel pump prime if I get somebody else to turn the key on while I listen in the engine compartment. Does anybody else have any other ideas of what the problem might be?

The truck was running fine, I turned it off for about 10 minutes and then when I went to restart it, it acted like it halfway started (ran rough for about 5 seconds and then died). Now it doesn't seem to be hitting at all. Like I said, good strong battery and turns over fine. Any ideas?

I have the 3.0L V6 manual transmission like the original poster.

I've done some more reading on other posts here and another guy had what sounds to be a similar problem. His fix ended up being the crank sensor. Can someone please tell me where to find the crank sensor on a 2001 Ranger with a 3.0L V6? Thanks for the help!

I have a similar problem on my 98 Ranger, manual. If its cold the truck starts right off the bat, no issues. If the engine is warm the car has to cool off before it will start. This can sometimes take up to an hour. I turn the key and hear a click but thats it. got any info for me guys???

Do you have the link to the thread? Do you know Sid he replaced just the electrical part o the sensor, or did they have to replace the whole assembly?
