Re: Chirp of death?
Sorry, I dont get around to this site too often so I might be just a tad slow at coming back and responding.
I still have the chirp, but I found the source and its my A.C. compressor making all that racket.
While studying it with the truck running I noticed that my A.C. clutch kicks on and off and I have the heater running!
I shut the truck off and unplugged the compressor and the noise is minimal but still there off and on so Im looking at a new compressor next summer if I want air.
I will say the truck has alot more get up and go now!
I also want to say that this fine site helped me install the camshaft synchro in my buddies 2004 3.0 and the process was pretty smooth and it is chirpless now!lol
Ya see, back when I posted this thread I was gettin worried about the chirp so I also called my buddy knowing he had a newer ranger with the 3.0 and asked him if he had any chirping noise and how many miles he had on the truck.
He said 140000 and to the best of his knowlede has no engine noises.
I warned him of the Death chirp I read about on this site and that it is recommended that at 80000 you need to change the Camshaft synchro.
2 days later he calls me and says, Ya know Marc, you are scaring me now because I am hearing a noise but it sounds like a belt squeek tho!
I told him to take his surpentine belt off and see if its still there, he gets back telling me yep it sure is.
I also advised him to get nothing but a motorcraft part!(thanx guys!)
I took me about an hour and his problem was solved!
Once again thanx Guys!!!
