Default help needed

03 ranger. have tuned up engine. new coil pack. compression checked was good. truck runs but CEL codes show cylinders 4,5,6 misfire, bank 1 to lean, bank 2 to rich. Changed O2 sensors as well. All mechanical aspects seem to be working correctly. Took to a mechanic and he is puzzled as well. He is talking to 3 other mecs and all are puzzled. One even works for ford. Seems to be electrical. Has anyone else had this problem? Can anyone help or offer some advice?

Had similar problem on a 6cyl. mustang. Turned out to be a bad ground on one of the coil packs.

new plugs, new wires. mechanic checked all that. checked to make sure I put the firing order on the coil pack right. also checked wires and plugs to make sure they were firing. after he cleared all codes on computer, i drove home and the CEL would start blinking then the light would go off. Start going up a hill and the CEL would start blinking again, then light would go off.

Hmm. What kind of plugs? Did you check the gap on them?

I have actually put it bosch plugs in my truck and still had a misfire. I went on here and was told I should only buy autolite/motorcraft plugs. So I went and bought those and the misfire was gone. Some guys on here said they have used bosch and didnt develop a misfire till a month later, but mine was right off the bat.

Im not sure which brand of plugs you used, just saying. It may sound silly that something as little as what brand name plugs could be causing the problem, but its true.

If you replace the plugs with the autolite/motorcraft plugs or if thats the brand that are already in there and the problem still goes on, my hands are in the air. Sorry.

Meant a bad ground in the harness not in the coil pack itself..

Ill look at the plug brand. We did pull them out and ground them and they fired. I was thinking the ground on the coil pack as a possibility. Also talked to my mechanic and he has done some research and thinking possible intake gasket. Thanks for suggestions, this is getting frustrating cause it cud b a number of things.

I was told that plugs come pre gapped. I actually ran into that problem years ago when I gapped them myself, it ran like crap. Worse than it does now
