Default Bad gas mileage

Ok so I have a 2001 ford ranger 4x4 3.0 and I have been getting awful fuel mileage, so I replaced the fuel filter cleaned the Maf and ran new spark plug wires and still not doing any better. I get about 30 to a quarter in town driving like a grandma. What can I do different to help me out or I'm selling it for a 2wd

I dont understand this "i get about 30 to a quarter in town driving like a grandma"
what the heck do you mean 30 to a quarter??????

And what is your definition of "awful fuel mileage."???
I get about 16mpg hwy, and about 14.5 in town, but i have big 33x12.50x15 tires.

And YOU have to decide, do you want a TRUCK with 4x4, or a 2wd car?!
What do you uses the truck for? Anything other than driving to work? Do you need a bed to haul stuff regularly? or tow stuff? do you live in a snowy-wintery area where 4x4 is a big plus in the winter??

Heres a few tips i think you could do to get better mpg.
Buy a programmer/tuner $255
Buy cheap radial plain jane road tires.
Maybe put in manual locking hubs, to UNLOCK/FREE up your front drive shafts so your'e not turning them even in 2wd.
Take the LEAD out of your right shoe, lol.

But still, if your'e not happy with it, get rid of it... the 4x4 rangers were never meant to be gas savers.... not the 3.0 or the 4.0

It seems there are always people complaining "I want more POWER" or I want better Gas Mileage!"
Well either get a full size truck, or small compact car, and also WRITE TO FORD, DEMAND ACTION, TELL THEM WHAT YOU WANT!

I work like 3 blocks from my house, i drive it to work rarely, most days I walk. I drive like 15 miles to town for groceries and stuff, I drive 60 or so miles now and then to my parents, and in the summer, i tow my atvs long distances across the state for riding and camping, and i ride my motorcycle alot in the summer. My motorcycle is my gas saver. lol

Buy a bike, lol.

Good luck.

So you say you are getting 30 miles to a qtr tank of gas in town, no? 6.25 MPG is shitty for sure.

Are your brakes dragging?

How many miles does your truck have? I have a 2000 3.0 2wd and my gas mileage went down to 14. I changed my plugs and o2 sensors and it came back up.

I'll trade you my 2wd

I am in Garland Tx, on the east side of Dallas. How many miles does your truck have on it?

no way to win with gas mileage. You just deal with it. Hell our gas here cost $3.65 now. I drive about 30 miles a day and during the summer I haul constantly, and go on trips every weekend. My gas mileage? What gas mileage my truck drinks that shit like a dog drinks water. You just deal with what you got or move on.

I don't know where Levelland Texas is, but I grew up in Texarkana, Texas and Arkansas area.

U have a motorcycle? What do u have?
Can u drive it year round there??

U have a tuner too?? Which one do u have?
If its not helping you, are u not happy with it?
I want to eventually buy one, and like to get some input on it.

Peace
