I have a 2000 ford ranger XLT 4L V6. with about 120k
Now.. I am not too automotive literate. I can change my oil, and replace a bumper, but thats about where I stop. My soon to be father in law has been helping me out with my truck, because is far more computer literate. I don't think he understands how bad I feel as though my truck is.
So... About 4 or so months ago I had my front end suspension changed. (i assume thats what it is? It all stemmed from my ball joints) and an alignment.
As soon as I hit the freeway my truck was shaking so hard, that when I got home, I refused to drive it to work. After bleeding the power steering fluid a little it dulled down. But, it was still there.
About a week ago my check engine light came on. It was a cylinder 6 misfire. My soon to be father in law switched out my spark plugs and wires. Turned out that one had a crack in it. The rough idle went away, but there was still shaking on the freeway.
About a day or two later the light came back on. It was the same thing, cylinder 6 misfire. I checked the wires, all still there... told my soon to be father in law, he seemed not too worried. So I reset the code.
Happened again a day later. Reset it, checked wires again, nothing. Now at this point, when I started to drive, on occasion, my oil pressure gauge would shake... rapidly from high to low. Typically only at slower speeds, and would stop if I put my truck in park.
Now... about a week after that, late at night.. I went to start my car, and it was like my battery was disconnected. Nothing. Nothing happened. Then out of no where it just all turned on. my radio stations were reset, so I know that something is going on...
It happened again tonight too, only this time, it was more like my battery was drained (which was bought new about 2 months ago). The engine wouldn't even try to turn, like my battery was dead. Then out of nowhere, all of my lights came on, and my truck started.
Now, let me explain the shaking... It happens only really at 65 mph or faster and it comes from my right front end. It has shaken so much that at one point my right headlight assembly came out of place. When this happens, it also feels as though my transmission needs to shift up a gear, but isn't.
I know that this is an incredibly long list of problems, but I do take good care of my truck. At least the best that I know how. Does anyone have any idea as to what the problem might be? I would take the truck to a shop, but I can barely afford the parts, let alone the labor to have it repaired.
