8th digit of the vin guys and gals. common lol that how you know if the vehicle has been i a wreck or not when buying it through a private seller. you check the vin in the window, the horse collar, and the gas tank door. make sure they all match. also they are located on the axle, the engine, and one spot on the frame, also door jam, hood

Post up what letters and numbers you see.

Still unsure look on the drive rdoor jam and where it says axle look in the drive train section for axle codes

On mine it says

4 10 88 5J11

STL: doesn't yours say 4L10? meaning 4.10 limited slip

mb128: you have 3.73s (provided no one else has changed things), 4.56 would prob be best off road but its gonna be really noticable on the highway, you're gonna have to run a higher rpm to attain the same speed, if you are happy with the way it drives i would say just leave it alone, if you want a little more get up and go and a little more torque off road but without sacrificing too much highway mileage then i would switch to 4.10s

don't forget if you change the rear gears on a 4x4 you have to change the front to match

im already having problems keeping my speed up on the highway. will 4:10 gears get better gas mileage? ill take it off road like real off road and push it and see how it does with the 3:73 gearing first and go from there. if i have to all go to a jy and see if i can find a good running 4.0 with low miles

Actually stepping up to 4.10s will help you out on the highway for power and keeping speed. It will bump your RPMs up some, and you will be in a more usable power band going down the road.
