Default 92 ranger loses power over 60

I just got this ranger a little while ago, and it is more or less my first vehicle. Just to let you know I have very little mechanical know how but I'm trying to learn.

The problem I'm having is that I started losing power when I was on the highway the other day, I was cruising around 70 and then my rpms suddenly jumped up and I just started to slow down. I pulled over and discovered my radiator fluid reservoir was empty so I filled it up and it started running a little better but I still lose power over 60 mph.

It did take a sec or two to shift between gears before but now it seems as if its shifting down a gear randomly. Again not a lot of know how so I'm not quite sure whats occurring. Please help.
