Default Surging While Idleing.

Got just about everything fixed in my ranger, but now when it idles, the rpms go up and down for about 30 seconds, then it idles like normal for about 30 seconds and it keeps doing that...any idea? Thanks in advance

I have this too. When i start up my ranger, it the rpms go high then level off. then go back up all of a sudden and then level off.

Is this just the engine trying to warm itself up since its cold?

Just joined the forum sooooo,,,,uh,,,Hey! Been working on a buddy's '97 4.0 w/auto and has sorta the same symptoms, consistanly surges at idle in drive or park of course check light came on.Had a local autoparts place pull codes and comes back as a mass airflow sensor.I pulled the assembly with the MAF sensor and carefully cleaned the 2 small probes in it [carb cleaner and Q-tips] ,it ran o.k for about a day but started doing it again.
My bud's pretty dead set that the MAF is the problem so we plan on changing it in the next day or 2.I'll let ya know if it solves the issue.

We tried cleaning the MAF sensor, and that didnt help because it was runing rich...so we replaced it with a brand new one and its not running rich anymore but still surging.

just some thoughts. clean iacv replace with new gasket, look for vacuum leak( can use carb cleaner) and listen for engine revs. Also might be good idea to check air filter

I'm with the above. Clean the MAF and IAC, and see if it goes away. Replacing the IAC may also be in order if cleaning doesn't correct the issue.

Hi guys. I'm having the same problem, but only happens when my control knob for my heater/air cond is on (when in the off position it doesn't happen). That confuses me?

How cell phones changed society.
To start off, how could you communicate with anyone if you weren’t home? Thanks to cell phones now you can leave your household and still talk to anyone you could possibly think of. You need to talk to your special someone or even your fellow co-workers. If your not in your house-hold you can communicate with anyone.
Cell phones are now more popular than any computer ever invented, cell phones are now up to roughly 3.4 billion users. It’s a modern phenomenom , its access to a myriad of new technologies and the ability to travel throughout the world with an added sense of security have afforded us the opportunity to explore all that life has to offer. In the recent years, cellular phones have rapidly become a staple and necessity in American society and around the globe
Not only is the Cell phone used in the united states of American, but it is used around the globe. In Africa more of the population has a cellphone than a based household line. This is just one illustration of the world-wide impact that cell phones have made on everyday life.
A new study has been conducted by the leading academic Dr. Sadie Plant. Dr. Plant, was paid by Motorola to travel to diffrent cities around the world to do research for on cell phones, Chicago, Tokyo, Beijing, Hong Kong, Bangkok, Peshawar, Dubai, London and Birmingham, During her field studies and observation, She identified a many behaviors that demonstrate the dramatic impact that cell phones are making as accessories to everyday life.
The first cell phone was made in the 1940's and was to be used as a tool. Over the years though the purpose for cell phones have changed. Cell phones themselves have changed, The first mobile phones where built into automobiles, they where big, bulky phones. They also consumed high power, not untill the 1970's did they become moble. A man named Martin Cooper, a motorola researcher, made the first phone call from a mobile phone.
The first mobile phone weighed 2.5 pounds and measured roughly 9 inches long, 5 inches deep, and about 2 inches wide. Can you imagin haveing such a big phone? Now days, cell phones weight just about nothing.
In 1999, the second generation of cell phones began. The 2G introduced a new way of communicating. SMS or text messageing. Texting began to be the choice of communication ith young people. The trend quickly spread throughout the ages.
By the third generation, the Internet was added and made high speed. Also companies added camras, and other multimedia data. During the 3G cell phones also became compatiable with wifi networks. Cell phones have completly taken over! one out of every four people have and use a cell phone. They have become so important in some peoples lives, home phones are being eliminated.
who needs to pick up the phone anymore, or meet face to face to have converstaions, when you can just text? Forty-percent of teens feel that without the option to text that their social lives would worsen end completly. Texting is a way for someone who is shy, come out and say things he or she wouldnt say out loud. People used to just call and talk to each other, but not anymore! The only time we make phones calls now, is if we need a quick answer otherwise, for the most past we use text messageing.
Cell phone have not only changed society, thay have taken over. Technology has come so far so fast, cell phone now dont even have buttons on them anymore, more than half of the phones now are touch screen. many people are waiting to see what the next generations of phones are going to be like, A Designer named seunghan Song has an idea of a "window phone" concept will reflect current weather conditions on the screen. To input text, you just blow on the screen to switch modes, then write with your finger as a stylus.
