Default 2000 Ranger 3.0 running rough

Hello I could use some suggestions on this one. I have a 2000 3.0 ffv Ranger with 168000 miles. Driving home I stoppped at a friends, started it back up and it ran rough for about 4 miles and then it snapped right back to normal. Its seems to be running rough more and more now. Sometimes I start it and it runs like a champ other times i start it and its rough. When it runs rough sometimes it will snap out of it sometimes not. Its seems that if it is going to run rough it will do it at start up it never will never be runnning great and then get rough. I replace the plugs and wires and checked the coil. no check engine light on i even took it to autozone and it didnt show any codes. Any suggestions out there i am not a mechanic but pretty handy and i dont have any specialized tools.

Alternator might be going bad, mine did that for 2 months, it would idle weird then snap back to normal.

Got a new alternator and that hasn't happened ever since.

To me it sounds like one of the two things, fuel pump or a fuel injector.

Edit: When my alternator went bad it never idled rough. However my dad's 2.5 idled rough sometimes when it had a bad injector.
