Default Can't get rid of it!!

Ok so i bought my ford ranger about a year ago now, ive noticed when i bought it that it had a quiet squeal under the hood. But as time went on the squeal increased. So i took a look and it sounded like it was the serpentine belt. I went to advance and picked one up and replaced it. A week went by and the squeal reappeared even louder. So my second instincts told me tensioner pulley. Bought that and put it in. That still didnt fix the problem. Then just for the heck of it i changed the idler pulley but no luck with that either. Does anyone have any suggestions for me?

ya never know you could have gotten a bad tensioner or something. I bought an idler pulley from O'reillys that was bad it took me a while to figure that out.

I dont think its the cam syncro, im kind of leaning more towards the air conditioner pulley clutch bearing, because everytime it squeaks the white lettering on the belt passes over that pulley

Could be the water pump. Mine just started making the same noise. But I think mine is the idle pulley.

it could be any pulley/gear combo on the belt system. pull the belt off and spin each pulley and determine which one it is. it might not make a sound doing this, try looping the belt around each pulley, pull it tight, and roll the belt back and forth and see if you can re-create it that way.

10 minutes with a cheap stethoscope will probably get you close to where it's coming from. That is the first thing I grab when narrowing down noisey accessories. Just need to be careful that you don't take off your hand. Usually a good idea to check pulleys when the belt is off to make sure they spin freely. +1 to the CPS suggestion, with it being a problem as it is, I wouldn't assume and dismiss it as a cause, something to keep in mind.

it is def that, if your over 100,000 miles its common, specially on the 3.0l vulcan motors replace that cam synchro sensor before it goes. if it does ur truck will run like poop cause it doesnt know when to inject fuel and spark. the sensor isnt that expensive and isnt to hard to replace just have to be careful. best of luck!

Well i recently talked to my dads friend which is a mechanic he said check each pully you didnt replace, put a long screwdriver on the bolt which holds each pulley in then put your ear up to it, if it has a good bearing you will hear it spinning smooth, if its a bad bearing you will hear a grinding noise
