Default fuel line disconnect

I'm trying to replace the fuel pump on a 99 ranger and I cannot get the fuel line off the top of the tank. I have both the performance tool aluminum one and a x style multi tool and have pushed the line in and no luck at all it will not come off. Any thoughts? I've been thinking of using some type of hook and pulling the clip out or finding a disconnect somewhere else and pulling out the fuel line from somewhere different. And it's 18 degrees and getting ready to snow...

I know these lines....Ford's quick disconnect fuel lines that aren't exactly quick. lol. I fought and fought and fought with both the aluminum one and the X multisize one when disconnecting the incoming fuel line to my fuel rail line when I did my motor swap. Then, all of a sudden, it disconnected.

They should be 1/2" line size. Stick the tool in the groove, push into groove(it should stay in the groove on it's own), push both ends of the line towards eachother, and it should seperate.

Default Re: fuel line disconnect

Ok so it's now march and warm enough to try this again. 2 more hours today and I still cannot get this fuel line to disconnect. I have the plastic tool now along with 2 others and it will not separate. I'm able to get the tool all the way in and turn it but no luck. I don't hear a click as some have said to listen for. Am I missing something here? Thanks you for any thoughts.
