Default More power to Mazda?

Hey guys I came across an intresting find today.. according to car&driver the mazda 3.0 has 5 more hp at 5200 than the ford 3.0 has at 5250. Torque wise the Mazda 3.0 has 26 more than the ford engine... give or take a few for the small variation in rpm that the measurement was taken at. (Ford- 154@3750, Mazda 180@3900) I noticed this first on msn autos site and decided to find another credible source to try and verify it.. I thought these engines were made the same... am I missin somethin here?

4.0 demolishes both.

Question, is this whp? Or bhp?

I've heard that b3000's give far less engine problems than the 3.0 ranger, and from what i've read on here and just in general it seems true, can any of you b3000 guys back up this claim?

Matters not to me. I really like my Ranger even more than I thought I would. The engine has plenty of power for me and I scarcely rev it above 3000 RPM, so i probably never use over 100 HP lol ...

I was pulling a 6x12 ATV trailer the other day with 2 full size ATV's on it and only knew it was behind me on the hills, but no problem at all.

I dont understand why the difference would be so huge since its exactly the same engine, same mold, same design, the only factor would be build quality? but are they made in the same factory as well. something doesnt fit here.

we can all agree on one thing.
4.0 SOHC blows any other stock Ranger engine away.

Yea the 4L is still better, statistically wise its the same Mazda to Ford.

I gotta say though, we have a Ford Taurus station wagon with the Ford 3.0 in it we got for 1k with 90 thousand miles on it and I have probably gotten very close to blowin it (I hit 7500 with it once or twice in the past) I even hit the speed limiter in it and its still runnin about the same lol (about 180k miles now) not that it was a good thing to do so. If they are the same engine as the 3.0 in the Rangers I can't see taking two much life off of it runnin arond 5000 as long as that oil stays clean and full and you dont run it in the high range every second of the day.

Btw my truck has the mazda engine in it since aparently an employee of the company I bought it from ran it without oil..

I don't even understand why 3.0's were an option in the ranger, They perform well in the taurus (my ex's taurus has 300,000+) with no problems at all besides regular maintenance, but seem to do nothing but fail in the ranger (minus the lucky few who haven't had problems...yet)

4.0 FTW definitely
