1999 3.0 clattering sound in lower part of the engine
My trucks makes a clattering sound when it is cold starting. and idling After it gets to running temperature it stops making the noise. its in the lower part of the engine. the oil pressure at idle is 32 psi

Mine does it too, not sure what it is. Has done it for a long time.

I got my truck with 120,000 on it and mine has done it since about 130,000 and has slowly gotten a little louder with 172,000 on her now.It even does it after being ran and sitting about 30min on start up. The only thing i can figure is piston slap or timing chain.I have put my ear to the oil pan and i can tell its coming from the lower end somewere.

I guess there is a possibility it could be the chain. At least hope its the chain, as that could reasonably be fixed.
