Idles too fast
My 3 liter 98 standard 4x4 idles too fast most of the time, except when I come to a complete stop, then the idle drops to about 800-900. Between shifts, it stays at about 2000-2500, then only slows to 1500 if I take my time holding the clutch in. Occasionally, when I start it cold, it barely idles, then idles right, even between shifts until it warms up, then the fast idle starts again. For example, if I up-shift from 2nd to 3rd at 2000 rpm, when I push the clutch in to shift, the engine speed jumps to 2300 then slows after second or two to 1500, instead of immediately dropping to an idle of 900 like it should. Any ideas? It runs smooth.

Re: Idles too fast
You know, mine was doing that after I messed with the set-screw, and it still idles above the normal idle speed until I come to almost a complete stop. There's a chance it's as simple as your set screw being a little too high, because it was doing the high-idle thing between shifts as well, but I am also willing to bet it's a good time for you to clean your IAC, MAF & TPS. For the MAF make sure you use MAF cleaner - specifically made to clean the MAF.

I would never notice a high idle in between shifts. Even when im trying to drive slow as soon as I pull it out of gear its directly into the next no idling with only a 3-400 rpm drop

Re: Idles too fast
I unplugged the AIC, and it idles fine. This must mean that the AIC is bad, but I have read that even new ones don't work right, so I'm just going to leave it unplugged. It seems to run fine, but idles rough, slow on cold mornings. Gas mileage is ok, hasn't gone up or down.
