Check engine light inconsistent

I Have a 94 ranger 3.0 v6 with 160k. The check engine light comes on and goes off with no particular pattern. The only thing consistent about it is it turns off when I try to get Autozone to do a diagnosis. They told me it has to be on to get the OBD I codes or to attempt to reset the check engine light. I recently changed spark plugs, spark plug wires, distributor cap, and rotor. The car is running good and I've been Dealing with this for about two months any advice would be greatly appreciated. Thank you

I would say a part is about to fail but hasn't yet. The only thing to do is just drive it until that part does fail then go from there.

I know its a bit obvious but until life gives you lemons you can't make lemonade. Lol

im not very familiar with the 94.
But start off easy and cheap, clean the MAF and PCV, maybe the throttle body, check the TPS. Also check the spark plugs and wires again. Make sure they are ok and the wires connected in the correct order.

If the truck is running fine, with no noticeable difference, then hell it may be a faulty CEL lol.
