A 3.0 or even SOHC 4.0 will never make any good useable power. They are crappy flowing truck engines. You will end up spending all kinds of money trying to go fast and you will be disappointed. Someone already did everything you could to a Ranger 3.0 and didn't get much in the end. The only fast SOHC 4.0 Ranger that I have seen is Nick's. He has a money tree though. But even then its just not that fast.

Also cool for getting a 12.45 in the Maxima but that sounds slow for the amount of work put into it. My buddy's 06 GTO auto ran a best of 12.5 at 108 with headers, catless midpipes, intake, converter and a tune. Now he has a cam and might be adding nitrous soon. But he drives it everyday and we take it to Vegas. It idles fine in traffic and he can pull about 23 MPG.
i drove the maxima everyday... i was gettin around 30 mpgs before the mods and about 23-27 after dependin on how i drove it... yes it was alot of work but i was 18 and just thought it would be awesome to make a skyline clone... i didnt care how much work it took... plus an ******* i now with a civic told me id never beat him, so i built the car specifically to wax a civics ass.. but then i just keep going with it cuz it was kool to beat people with a family car... the car did handle decent but it werent the best in the world

i just like gettin as much as you get out of a car... making it as fast as you can, or getin the most speakers in it , whatever....

yes its pointless to try and make a supercar outa of a max or ranger but damn if it aint fun tryin.. thats all im gettin to, i work two jobs and go to college fulltime... screw bein on the straight and narrow when im off and home... haha "I WANNA GO FAST"

Well again crappy little 3.0. There is nothing that will make it fast. I have beaten a supercharged 3.0 with my stock 4.0. So good luck with your spending.

Put a sr20det in your ranger if you are into nissans. Its a little engine that shouldnt be hard to get above 250hp.

Dont need handling if you live in the plains, all we got is strait roads in OK.

Keep it ford.....build up a 2.3L lima engine and slap on a turbo. Basic parts without much work or money will get you 300 to the wheels...

I figured you wanted a 4cyl turbo...If you think you can do an rb26, that would be an amazing truck...and one of a kind, well im sure it has been done, but you probably wouldnt run into anyone else that has doen it.

yea... the sr motor is a whole lot easier to find became they put the non turbo sr's in a lot of different cars... non turbo rb's weren't use but in like one or two cars (except the skyline, which suck with n/a engines)... but you can order them from passwordjdm.com
yea that would be sick to have a gt-r ranger.... i havent heard of it being done but im sure someone has or tried at least..... ive seen a tt supra powered s10

This is what I plan to put in my Ranger one day whenever I get the money. Id love to put a 302 in it but it just seems like it would be even more badass to put one of these V6 engines in it. The one im looking at is the last one on the list. A 4.4L V6 stroker with forged internals, machines heads, aluminum everything, cams, and all ready to put in and ready for up to 20lbs of boost. That there is a dream V6!

me too....it's still ford! (sortaish. lol).

And a GTR engine in a ranger is more gay than a GTR engine in a '67 mustang.......

TOKYO!!

But, there's a guy over at RPS buiding a B20/22? S2000 engine in a bagged and bodydropped ranger. I find it pretty cool.

Meh. I'd put a Chevy engine in a Fox Body. Why do that? Well because I want it to go fast. HAHA.
