ill prolly get the stroker kit, get me heads redone at smith performance and then buy that supercharger

you got about $5000 for just the complete engine??? Thats how much his 4.4 V6 long block complete engine would cost... that wouldnt include the tranny you need and everything else! Which reminds me... I need to go get a lottery ticket myself! haha

i wanna try to build up the 3.0 ... its funnier to race and win with a tiny engine. if the 3.0 dies im going with a gt40 motor

The 3.0 has potential if you have the money! His stroker kit takes it to a 3.3...

gt40? Good luck fitting that in the ranger!

the gt40 is the same motor that came it the older v8 explorers....so it sould be to much different in size.. making it fit will be no problem... my boss/ good friend put a 501 in a 64 fairlane.... haha making it hook up will be the problem

You talking the GT40 from the 60's? OR the Ford GT from '02-05 or whatever? Because you're comparing a 5.4L DOHC Modular engine to a 5.0L pushrod V8. And no, they're not the same.....in anyway, shape, or form other than having a blue oval stamped on it and it has 8 cylinders.

Just so you know....5.0 Expo or Stang or Fiddy will pretty much bolt into a 98+ ranger. The SOHC Mod motor...that's a completely different story. You've never seen one have you? VERY wide engines. 2 cams in each head = wide engine.

v8 ford explorers wid the 5.0s have the same motor as the 96 to 2002 cobras (i think its 2002 but not sure) i now this becuase i have a buddy with a 96 cobra... the difference was in the intake manifold
he blew his motor up and used a late 90s model v8 explorer motor to replace it

then i helped build a fox body with the same kind of motor and after we changed the intake manifold and a few other mods the two engines looked almost exactly the same

everyone ive ever talked to about those two cars has always called em gt40 motors.... btw yes ive seen the motor.. actually theres one at my house now not sayin it will fit easily, im sayin smith performance can make anything fit

(not fussin btw)

yes a cam and head work will make a nice differance but the best always seems to be intake and programmer, but you should wait on the programmer if you plan more mod. and you already have the exhaust done. I should have a supercharger setup out for the 3.0 in spring, been working on the 4.0 right now

Nope sorry. 96 was the year that Mustangs went with the 4.6 engine. The GT got the SOHC 4.6 engine and the Cobra got the DOHC 4.6. The 5.0 was completely dropped. If you don't believe me then look for yourself: 4th gen Mustang

And if you wanna go fast buy something that can actually go fast.
