Default Transmission Grinding... :(

Hey all, so just last week my truck started making a horrible grinding noise. Here's what happens:
  1. Start the truck in neutral with clutch in: nothing abnormal
  2. Release the clutch in neutral: nothing abnormal
  3. Clutch in and put into any gear: grinding noise
  4. Slowly release the clutch and start rolling forward: grinding intensifies
  5. Drive around with clutch out and in any gear: nothing abnormal

Any suggestions? My friend said a pilot bearing and I took it to AAMCO and they drove it around and said probably a clutch spring broke. I know I'm going to have to probably pull apart the transmission to figure out exactly what's going on, but I was wondering if anyone might have a clue before I spend a bunch of money on a new clutch, slave, and resurfaced flywheel.
