Lightbulb Replace Spark Plugs, Wires and Ignition Coil

I was quoted by my local mechanic that to replace my spark plugs, associated wires and ignition coil it would cost about $500. When I called my local parts store the total cost of all these parts was only $150. Should I attempt to do this job myself or pay the mechanic? Does his quote seem high?

Save money do it yourself, its all common sense stuff. Yes that quote sounds a little high, $350 for labor is a bit much

Just don't break off any plugs in the head or it will be a lot more than $500. I try to use a limited amount of WD-40 sprayed down into the plug hole (while the plugs still in obviously) to loosen it up a little. Also don't forget to put anti-size on the new plugs to make it easy on yourself the next time you decide to change them.

yeah yourself 150 seems high. i don't think i paid that much for all my wires and plugs. i had to use a breaker bar to get few of my plugs out because the awkward angle.

Its a very simple job. Take a look at advanced auto parts on line, I got wires and plugs there for less than 70.00 then had extra to buy the screamin demon coil pack and it was still below 150.00 total in parts

Do yourself a favor and buy Motorcraft parts if you can't find them locally at auto part stores order them on eBay,Amazon or Rockauto online. Your truck will purr like a kitten.
