Default 91 RANGER won't start after battery died from leaving light on all day.

Hello to whom ever is reading this thread right now.

My current problem I am having with my 91 Ranger is that it Won't start but turns over. This started right after I had left the lights on all day which of course I had to get a jump because it drained all the power out.

While getting a jump and charging the battery I smelled smoking wire and also a little smoke coming somewhere from the passenger side. I stopped charging after that which was a good 15 min. Not enough juice to turn over.

Long story short from that day of being forgetfull, I have replace the battery - still it won't start but will turn. Not even a spark.

Please help me.

I'm not automatically inclined and all the help would much appreciated.

Thank you,

Dina

Dude you may have reversed the connections.. Like positive to negative, negative to positive that could fry your computer or melted some important weirs.

To what i have read, i do agree with Michael, You must have reversed the battery connections, if you have done this, you may as tow it for scrap or get ahold of your vehicles electrical system wiring diagram and look at every main wire.. look for a chared black area, or smell the area for smoke... you could also look up for a price of a used computer for your rig.. it being a 91, chances are they are few and far.. if you need any more help, drop me a msg. Good luck Dina

Open the yellow pages and find a mechanic. I think tracing out and replacing pretty much every fusible link and electronic components is beyond what you're going to handle on your own.

That works too. I'm assuming myself your better off getting a new truck, that to me sounds alot cheaper then labor rates and parts etc ...
