Just bought a 93 3.0 for my daughter
She is in love with the truck.... the paint is shot... but I'm not too concerned with that...
The motor is strong, but I am getting some bogging down at WOT, and a rough idle. So far I have replaced the plugs, I am going to replace the fuel filter and wires tomorrow and see if that clears it up.. I am also going to clear out the throttle body..
One thing I have noticed is - it seems to take an unusual amount of time to warm up.... and runs pretty rough until it does..
Anyone seen that in these trucks before?
Also - i DO have a CEL, so i will be getting that checked.... I am thinking this feels like a clogged cat possibly.. not sure how common that is on these things

Clean your MAF sensor, clean your IAC, clean your throttle body, Seafoam the engine through the brake booster vacuum line, gas tank, and add it to your oil. Also finish changing your plugs and wires, you might need a new coil pack if that doesn't help it.
Do you have a check engine light on?
Welcome to FRF!

If it takes a long time for it to warm up, the thermostat could be stuck open.

I wouldn't go out on a wild goose chase buying stuff you don't need without fully diagnosing stuff.
try these 2 sites and use your voltmeter it is your best friend. i would check/change the thermostat to start. first web site has all the major sensors and how to check them for proper performances.

Re: Just bought a 93 3.0 for my daughter
I'm good. I replaced all the wires, seafoamed it and changed the fuel filter..... no change. I unplugged the MAF and revved up the engine and it came to life...
I pulled the MAF.... cleaned it, put it back in,..... and a totally different truck came out ..
I layed a 20 foot patch on my street in front of my house.
Still have a little hesitation at WOT, but nothing I cant play with later... for now I am ecstatic I got it running smooth enough for my little girl to drive to work tonight
now I just need to find a longbed to replace the POS that is all dinged up on it

Pink, that's an interesting color choice lol
Looks rough, but runs good. Sounds like my '87 F250.
