Default P0401 Code??

My check engine light came on and when I used my OBD reader it said it was a P0401 code, which is insufficient vacuum in the EGR. I read somewhere that I should try replacing the pressure sensor. Anyone know what I should do? I have the pressure sensor, I just dont want to put it in until I know its the problem cuz its expensive.

Thanks.

What engine you have 3.0 or 4.0

It may be your DPFE that has gone out

turns out it was the pipe that sends exhaust air to the EGR valve, it was ruptured, but we never would have discovered that had we not broken it by accident trying to getthe EGR off to test it.
