Default Bad fuel pump on 97 3.0 Ranger???

OK, I replaced the EGR valve today and cleaned out the metal tube and two rubber lines before replacing. Changed my oil, charged the AC then sprayed off the dust and dirt on my engine with a high pressure washer. Started up and drove it some and the rough idleing and loss of power was gone and it ran strong. Parked in the driveway. Started to clean interior and vaccum. Went to start it and sounded very rough as it tried to start and cutout. Cranked and started to sound real dry. Cranked. waited. cranked, waited, cranked. dry dry dry. nothing. Got couins hubby to look at it. Sprayed ether in it and it tried to run. Fuel pump not kicking in. Disconnected fuel line at filter and turned on key and nothing. The lilttle black module thing in the fuse box under the hood that runs the fuel pump was clicking so it was getting juice. Any advice before I pull the bed off and replace the fuel pump? I think it is in the tank. Gonna check book to make sure.

Thanks,

Craig

It might be easier to drop the tank, its got 2 bolts vs. 6 bed bolts that r a bitch to get out when they r rusty... When you pull the pump out you can hook up wires from your battery to the motor to see if it kicks on but make sure to dry it off!

Yeah, that is a good point. I have a spray in liner over those bolts too. There is not much room under the truck, its a 2 wd. May have to pull it up on ramps then. Craig

Ive changed my pump already, mine is a 2wd but its lifted... The only thing u have to do it pick up the rear axle cuz the tank is so long it will hit it.
