Default 3.0L Stalling

I have a 2003 Edge with a 3.0L engine. I started having problems with the idle a couple weeks ago. I put new plugs and plug wires in it but it didn't help. I also found a vacuum leak in a tube that comes out of the rear of the manifold. I replaced that and my idle problems got even worse. Now every time I let off the gas the RPMs drop below 500 and it stalls. When I first start my truck it idles fine for a few minutes then I hear a clicking noise and the idle starts surging and dropping off and eventually stalls. It seems like it clicks just before the idle drops off. Any ideas?

Turn your A/C on, and then listen for the A/C Compressor to cycle on and off. You will hear it click. If the idle rises and drops with the cycle of the A/C Compressor, then your IAC could be at fault. Also, get out and manually watch your A/C Compressor clutch on the front of the compressor. It may be having issues itself, like intermittent lockup.

Angry Re: 3.0L V6 Stalling

I am also having the stalling issues. Just purchased 2006 Ford ranger XLT STX and it stalls at red lights in traffic or stop signs after warming up. Re-starts but then as soon as I hit the brakes in traffic for a light, etc. it stalls.
Any ideas on how to fix/ Is it Air, Fuel or Ignition problems anyone else has identified as being the culprit?

Start by cleaning your IAC valve.

Smile Re: 3.0L Stalling

We found that the dude who detailed the truck left the airintake hose lloose from the dealer. We had too much airflow and they cleared the computer code and it seems to work fine now. No stalls. The check engine light never came on.
Thanks for your feedback!
P.s. We did not pay for the repairs but it took the entire day for them to figure it out!!

lol, that's pretty funny. I've been guilty of that before. It's amazing how one small little line or sensor being unplugged can cause the vehicle's running condition to change drastically. Glad it was a simple fix!
