Default Superchips Flashpaq

Just got a new Superchips tuner off of Craigslist for pretty cheap ($125 instead of $300+). I tested out two quick tunes. First the quick performance tune and then the mileage xs.

Full disclosure. While I am a good wrench around my truck (if pointed in the right direction) I know nothing about cars/trucks. So my description here will be less than expert...It definitely made the truck feel different, but I'm not aware enough to know if it helped with performance nor did I drive it long enough to find out about the mileage saver.

One thing I dont like, with either tune is that the shift PSI is jacked up to all hell and it shifts like Andre the Giant is kicking down my tailgate.

Anyone use one of these before and know some good settings to use in the custom settings?

i like to run the performance tune for fun around town, throw in a decent octane booster and you can pull 17ish per gallon, in tow mode with the same booster you can get 18 miles per gallon, tow mode keeps the rpms low, performance runs them up high, expect your powerband to be midrange, tow mode keeps everything low, rpms and powerband, go to advanced tune and drop the shift psi all the way down, you wont lose anything by doing this aside from a sportier feel, if you like that bring the psi up a lil bit. but i never got any better milage using the milage setting, tow mode works great for economy, while performance does alright. (while dropping a second or two off your zero to sixty

Yeah I've been driving with the mileage setting and haven't noticed anything other than the lag from 1st to 2nd and the mule under the hood helping me shift with a nice back kick. I might mess around with the custom settings once more, but I think I'm about done with this POS. I heard god things about them for Jeeps, guess not so much of a help for Rangers...

It really helped my 4.0 with 35's and 4.10 gears. I've heard there is not much difference between the mileage & performance as far as better mpg so I say get the extra power. But before my truck had a hard time maintaining speed on the highway without going in and out of overdrive. Now it is maintaining speed without a problem and has more passing power. I really like mine for that reason and that my speedo is correct again.

So... Lowered the shift PSI and changed shift points manually. Much better. Now we have to see, in the long run, if it was even worth it.

BTW, I haven't had a chance to DL new updates on the damn thing... Stupid Mac

My 2009 4.0L FX4 really got a jump from the flashpaq. The 4.10 gears create a slow start for my truck but the performance setting helps. I just learned from you guys what to do bout the kick. Thanks... Also, my gas is better on performance over mileage when on cruise.

Superchips is the one I got but u need to have a combo of a few other aftermarkets to feel a huge difference. cold air intake, bigger exhaust, and also a throtle body. i havn't bought the throttle body yet but that will create some power. super chips has the new digital android operated flashpaq now for around 700$ canadian. its a wireless and has all the functions of other digital in cab devices
