Default Code Readers......Please help

What brand do you use to read codes on a 1993 ranger ? Advance
says they can't read a 93 model. I have trouble trying to read the
codes the way Hayes repair book says to. I went to O'relly's parts
and there machine would not read the codes....Thanks

Sounds like you need a reader for OBD 1 with a ford adapter. Brand has nothing to do with it.

Try these instruction to read it yourself

I had trouble reading the engine light. It is confusing to me. That's
why I would like to have a code reader. It will give you the numbers.

Thanks

i have an autoxtra scanner it does obd-1 and obd-2 systems and it gives the numbers not just a flashing light. Ebay has a bunch of obd-1 scanners for like $40 with a digital disaplay

Stealership is right...They want $81.00 just to read the codes.
Five minutes for $81.00...

I jus picked up a CarMD for an OBD2 reader. works pretty good. Includes software and a website that breaks down the codes and give top suspects.
So far it's 2 for 2. MY Mazda3 and my ranger both had CELs and I fixed them both.

F*ck that noise. Look in your mail for advertisements. There was a shop here doing them for free, nobody ever says you have to have them fix it.

You shift first, second,& third everything is ok and in fourth & fifth it feels like a miss,
but it could be a surge. You can tell it more when you hold a steady speed of say 55. Its real bad when you are holding a steady speed (say 55) and you back off the gas a little to slow down to 50. The problem is worst when pulling my boat. When the truck is running in the yard you can rib it up and it sounds good...no miss or nothing.......Thanks
