Default 3.0 question

hi all, i'm wondering if someone could help me with 'a discussion' ive been have about a problem with a 3.0 (maybe a little o/t) a friends aerostar 95 or 96 ,,anyway it has instant pressure on the top rad; hose after start up i mean instant, you have to rev it up to really get the thing full of water again as it throws it out of the rad; as fast as try to put it in,either hot or off refill cold. ,not so long ago had new well (ltw) rebuilt w/p ,,therm; multi rad flushes at time off install.ran fine for 3-5 mnths...then cold spell hit (did have anti freeze b4) either the owner just didnt watch water level any way water was gone (therm;stuck maybe..) anyway ran hot he filled then noticed this pressure problem. ive refilled it an ran it for a few days ran ok. even with the pressure problem. then poof all the water gone and back to over heating. And not running so good. no oil and water mixed or smoke. Im thinking headgasket or head cracked,, idles a bit rough like a dollar bill will suck back up the exhaust pipe.ARRGG not good LOL. runs ok for a little while down the road tho ,,till heats up past normal. then like one over heated lol,..anyway havent ck'd compression yet or really anything just trying to figure out why;and next course of action.. Also is this the same basic 3.0 that is in the rangers? some one has told me the rad cap is bad . sorry this is sod long but trying "all info" that i can............thanks again

does it overheat on highway or when it idles? if it overheats when its idle check the fan,and also check your heater core maybe its leaking as well

thanks for the reply,,i forgot to say it also got a new fan clutch at the same time the other stuff was done,... some times it will run a bit going down the road ok ,..then at others it will run hot at idle. the really confussing part to me is the very high water pressure even at idle after first starting it before it has even a chance to run hot....so high it will back fill the empty r/bottle and shoot water out of it. arrrggg (lol) i guess my next step is to start compression ck..

hey, that back pressure of the reservoir shooting water youre talkin about happens to my truck when the water pump i purchase has broken impeller that i installed without noticing it,it might be the same in your case, you might want to check your water pump
